The NIPE is a detailed newborn check carried out within the first 72 hours after birth.

Having this done in your home allows the assessment to take place in a calm, familiar environment, without feeling rushed. The examination includes a full head to toe check, screening your baby’s eyes, heart, hips, and (for boys) testes, alongside a full assessment of their overall wellbeing. This test is repeated at 6 weeks with your baby's GP.

You will also have time to ask questions and receive reassurance, with referrals arranged if needed.
